Attention and Intention (11/23)

Last Friday, my wife and I were invited to a Quaker Book Club meeting where folks were discussing John O’Donohue’s book: Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom. “Anam Cara” means “Soul Friend.” Think of your soul friends.

A woman in the group said that in the early days when Quakers went to Meeting, it was with the expectation that one would be changed. This landed with me – made me think! Today, when people go to meeting, church, or services – do they do so with the expectation of being changed? To grow, evolve, deepen, expand? Are they that conscious? Are you? Am I?

Along this same line are theses words from Marv and Nancy Hiles: “Just as we pay attention to nutrition, we ought to nourish the unconscious with the highest forms of insight, art, nature, architecture, literature, music as sources of ‘food’ which the unconscious may then use as building blocks for its inspiration … We are what we eat and what we attend.”

Wow!

Note your powers of attention and of intention! Consciousness. Mindfulness. I hope this gives you something to ponder in your heart. Are you good at paying attention? Awake? Aware? What are your intentions? Are you open to change, the freedom to grow, evolve, deepen and expand? Is there a willingness, a longing, to change and to continue growing within you?

I love the words: “Creation continues”.

Be the change you want to see in the world!

Allow the music to flow through you – opening inner spaces for new life. Give your consent to new life, freedom, joy, a fullness of being. Say YES to life.

“Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” [Romans 12:2]

With you in awakening to the mystery of who we are in God and to who God is in us.

We are all sparks of the Divine flame
Blessed Be
Compassionate Be
Boldly Be
